What is Clubs for Young People Wales?

'To assist in the process of moral, cultural, mental and physical development of young people, so as to ensure a smooth transition to adult life and its responsibilities.'

Clubs for Young People Wales, developed from the Boys Club Movement, is one of the oldest youth organisations in Wales. Formed in the early 1920's its links with the community were embedded in its relationships with the miners of Wales who made significant contribution to its development - through regular weekly payments to support local initiative and as a contribution to the setting up of the Boys Village in St Athan. The mining community also produced many of the youth workers at the time who were well aware of the needs of young people of their community.

Clubs for Young People Wales is a registered charity, which offers help and support to youth clubs/groups/sports clubs. This is done by offering constructive youth projects, sporting opportunities, training, advice on funding and lots more. The organisation can also give advice and help clubs gain charitable status.

Clubs for Young People Wales is affiliated to the Clubs for Young People (CYP), which entitles all our clubs to take part in National (British) sporting events, and also provide clubs with low insurance opportunities.

Clubs for Young People Wales are also a member organisation of the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services (CWVYS).

Should any club require further information or would like to enquire about affiliating please contact 02920 575705 or email office@cypwales.org.uk
